WENO is the dream of Mino Zanzariello, an entrepreneur in the wine industry.
His ideal has always been – and still remains – the one witnessed in his words,“We must leave a trace!”
Mino, in addition to taking special care of his activities and his collaborators, has a very specific dream: to use indigenous grape varieties from the Itria Valley to produce strictly Pas Dosè classic method sparkling wine.
Indeed, the “winemaking challenge,” as he has always called it, is to produce using Verdeca, a white grape widely grown in the area.
The challenge, however, is aiming very high: the goal is to make a product that, starting from the land and what nature offers, rises to be of a higher, almost exclusive category.
To achieve this there is only one way: to do strictly the best, without compromise.
Flanked by his wife Alma, Mino began devoting time and resources to the WENO project, while continuing to pursue his other entrepreneurial activities in parallel.
Very important recognition for our limited-edition wine: it was chosen by Paolo Massobrio and Marco Gatti as worthy of being mentioned among the 100 best wines selected by Il Golosario.
This is the reason given: “In the heart of the most authentic Puglia, the Itria Valley, the story of an innovative sparkling wine comes to life thanks to the vision of Mino Zanzariello who, together with his wife Alma, decided to redesign the local classic method with this ambitious project that began in 2018. Mission accomplished, we can say, tasting this Valle d’Itria Verdeca, Spumante Pas Dosé “Mavù” VLE (Very Limited Edition): a gem of only 700 bottles with an initially fruity nose, with yellow plum and medicinal herbs, and a rich, elegant and complex palate. ”.
These awards are confirmation of a dream come true, a fantastic vision, and a great deal of commitment. At all levels and from everyone involved, inside and outside the company.
Our Mavù Pas Dosé Verdeca V.L.E. classic method sparkling wine—a limited-edition version—has been selected and included in Il Golosario’s Top Hundred Wines 2025. WENO is also growing thanks to these awards and establishing itself as a young, yet constantly growing and appreciated company.

From the beginning of the WENO project, we set out to enhance the vineyards of the Itria Valley area, cultivating them according to tradition but through the use of the most modern technologies. Each vineyard is identified by the name of the district in which it is located and by its own name, which originates from a particular element of the place.
Mavù Rosato Pas Dosé is a sparkling wine made from 100% Susumaniello grapes, a red grape variety typical of the Itria Valley in Puglia. It represents a refined expression of the local terroir, highlighting the unique characteristics of the region thanks to a minimum 24-month bottle aging period, which lends it complexity and depth.
Its pale pink color, enriched by garnet reflections, anticipates a fascinating and innovative aromatic profile. On the nose, notes of pomegranate and citrus emerge, with a red pastry finish that adds an elegant sweetness. On the palate, Mavù reveals itself fresh and salty, with a citrus aftertaste that enhances its vivacity and perfect balance.

WENO is participating, in the city center of Martina Franca, in the project to enhance the green area Orti del Duca with the creation of a real “vineyard in the city.”
The “Orti del Duca Project” rediscovered and restored medieval historical testimonies, harmoniously integrating them with the architecture of the site in an integrated urban intervention that transformed a previously degraded area into a modern multi-level parking lot with overlying green park, educational and cultural areas.
This initiative underscores WENO ‘s focus on the social context and its desire to contribute to the improvement of local living and environmental conditions.

The future of WENO is not too far away.
It is in supporting the local community with charitable initiatives such as those in support of “Mani Unite per il Congo,” a Locorotondo-based nonprofit association, or those in support of the local Istituto Tecnico Agrario I.I.S.S. Basile Caramia – Gigante di Locorotondo.
